Welcome to the 2011 Illinois State University Entrepreneurship Day Competition, also known as E-Day. We are glad you are interested in participating in this year’s event, hosted by the George R. and Martha Means Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, the Department of Management and Quantitative Methods, and the College of Business at Illinois State University.

E-Day consists of a university-wide business plan competition, elevator pitch competition, and this year Mary Leonard, Chief Performance Officer for Coinstar, Inc. - parent company of Redbox, will be our keynote speaker. E-Day will take place on Friday, November 11, 2011 from 12:00 - 4:30 p.m. at the ISU Alumni Center. Teams will compete for an estimated $18,000.00 in funding and in-kind prizes to help kick start their ventures. Participants and attendees will have the opportunity to network and connect with venture capitalists, angel investors, incubator managers, practicing entrepreneurs and business professionals.

Prizes:
In total, an estimated $18,000.00 in cash and in-kind prizes will be awarded to the winning teams. The actual prize monies and in-kind products/services will be determined by the level of sponsorship raised at the time of the event. In-kind prizes will be updated on our sponsors page as the competition nears. The estimated amount of funds and in-kind products/services to be awarded is as follows:
Business Plan Competition:
  • 1st place - $12,700.00
  • 2nd place - $2,500.00
  • 3rd place - $1,500.00
Elevator Pitch Competition:
  • 1st place - $800.00
  • 2nd place - $300.00
  • 3rd place - $200.00

Mary Leonard

We’re pleased to announce that Mary Leonard, the Chief  Performance Officer of Coinstar, the parent company of Redbox, will be our keynote speaker at E-Day. Mitch Lowe resigned as President of Redbox as of October 31 and is no longer available to speak.

Mary Leonard serves as Chief Performance Officer for Coinstar, Inc, responsible for Customer Service, Strategic Internal Communications, Operational Excellence, Enterprise Program Management, Deployment Operations and Facilities. Read more
